Verizon Digital Media Services Purchases UpLynk
Some companies hit the ground running. 2013年1月， UpLynk, which provides simplified live and on-demand HD adaptive streaming for premium partners, came out of stealth mode. UpLynk works by simplifying the process of encoding, 存储, 插入广告, and creating analytics for online video, and uses a single adaptive format for all computers and devices. Verizon says that UpLynk's muti-device support will complement Verizon's current end-to-end solutions.
While neither company disclosed the terms of the acquisition, the price may have been modest. Dan Rayburn, 流媒体's executive vice president and principle analyst for Frost & Sullivan, suggests that the total wasn't that great. "If it was more than a few million, at most, I would be surprised," Rayburn says.

In May, ABC became the first broadcast network to offer a live linear video stream, which it did through its partnership with UpLynk.
